Important Updates

New rates for 2025

First of all, I appreciate having the opportunity to work with you. It means a lot to me that you entrust me with your healthcare needs and I hope that it is making a difference in your quality of life.
New rates for services will take effect January 1, 2025.

Periodically it is necessary to raise rates to keep pace with the increasing cost of running a practice. As my last price increase was in 2020 (!), it is necessary  to raise rates in order to continue to offer quality patient care. Starting Jan 1st 2025, there will be a $5 increase for private appointments and a $5 increase for community acupuncture.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for understanding and happy rest of 2024!

Attention Prospective Kaiser Patients

Happy Spring to all! Just a brief update that starting 04/19/2024 I will not be accepting new Kaiser patients for a 6-month period. This doesn’t affect current patients. If you are a prospective Kaiser patient and need some names, please text or email and I will do my best to help you find a good person.

No more masks! Unless you (or I) feel sick :)

Jeez, it’s been almost 4 years of masking and it’s time to allow non masking during the community hours. If you feel at all like you are coming down with something, though, please mask. If you’re not sure, please ask! Thanks.

MCA has moved! Julie has a new location!

Hi!

I am extremely happy to announce the new location of Montavilla Community Acupuncture. Starting November, 2022 our new location is at 212 SE 79th Ave, Portland, OR, still smack dab in the middle of Montavilla :).

For the next couple of weeks as we adjust to our new location, online scheduling for community acupuncture is put on hold. You can text/call Mia at 503-539-9180 to inquire about availability. Online scheduling for individual appointments is available – just go to the appointments page for the link.

Thank you for being a part of our health-building world. I sincerely look forward to many more years of being of service.

And an update from Julie:
Practice update: On November 1, I will be providing acupuncture and related Chinese medical therapies in a new location in the Kerns neighborhood — the historic Trolley Building on E. Burnside Street, adjacent to the Laurelhurst Theater. The building served as a streetcar car barn and is the last structure remaining of the West Ankeny Car Barns complex. Pretty cool history! The neighborhood at 28th & Burnside offers many services and plenty of dining and shopping choices. One of the best features of the property is on-site, free parking for tenants and guests. Google Maps and Search information will be previewing my new address (2705 E. Burnside Street, Suite 110) and office hours; these changes do not take affect until November 1. Other contact information remains the same.

New address, hours, Julie’s new location and more!

Hi Montavilla and beyond! Thank you for your patience as we navigate our new space at 212 SE 79th Ave, Portland. In the next few weeks we will be setting up community acupuncture scheduling. Private appointments can be scheduled through the website already! If you have any questions, please call Mia at 503-539-9180. We hope you like the new space – it has and continues to be a labor of love and our goal is to create a space of solace for all who walk through our doors.

We’re moving!

We are excited to announce that Montavilla Community Acupuncture is moving to a new location!

New community acupuncture pricing

Hi Community! Starting with the Chinese New Year on 2/1/22 we will be changing the community acupuncture rate to $30/session. It’s been a long time since we have raised rates and we appreciate your support and understanding. It is always a pleasure and an honor to be of service.

Gearing up for reopening community acupuncture

Hi!

We are getting close to reopening our community acupuncture next month – no date yet, so stay tuned.

Take a look at some of the changes! Including a new air scrubber :).

There will be changes – we will be going to an appointment system with online scheduling through the website and also through your practitioner. We will have fewer people/hour to ensure safety.

Reopen update for May, 2020!

Here’s our latest update:
I am sure at least some of you have heard that Governor Brown is allowing for clinics to reopen for non-emergency procedures – with caveats. This includes reduced patient load to allow for requisite safety measures to be undertaken, including avoiding waiting with other people in waiting areas, disinfecting of the clinic and treatment rooms as well as pre-visit screening. While in the clinic all patients and practitioners will be required to wear masks. Patients are allowed to wear cloth masks that they must bring with them.
SO, we can finally restart scheduling patients. (Yippee!) Since we need time between patients to disinfect the treatment room, the schedule will be somewhat cumbersome at first. Also, we haven’t gotten to the point yet where we can restart the community acupuncture. We’re working on that and will keep you posted. For everyone’s safety, we need to have procedures in place.

It is a relief that we are at this stage, but I also know we need to be cautious. I believe, though, that it’s important to have access to care.

In good health and wellbeing,
Mia

COVID-19 and canceling community acupuncture

Good Morning,

It is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to cancel all our community acupuncture shifts for at least the next 2 weeks. It is becoming increasingly clear that this is the socially responsible thing to do for the health of our community, as everyone pulls together to slow the spread of the Coronavirus. This is a very uncertain time, and much could change, but our current plan is to re-open on Monday, March 30th.

This closure is effective starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17th, for the 10am shift.

We are hoping to reopen on Monday, March 30th, and will let you know as the day approaches what our plans are.

We are, for the time being, still seeing patients 1-1. If you want to know more about that, please let us know.

Thank you and please, take care. These are hard times and supporting each other as best we can is crucial.

Also, I will continue to post what I consider to be important and helpful info on the clinic FB page.

In solidarity,

Mia
